Toni and I only stayed in Brisbane for the weekend after leaving Roma. We satyed with our friend Brandon who we met in Roma the first time we were there. It was nice of him to put us up and show us about. Brisbane is a nice city, it seemed smaller than Sydney but as we were only there for the weekend we didnt really get to see much of its hard to judge. This weekend Toni and I catched up with Brandon and done a bit of shopping. So our time here was short and sweet but glad we got to visit this city.
Byron Bay
After our short Brisbane visit we got the Greyhound bus to Byron Bay. We stayed in the YHA hostel there which was in a great spot, located a 5 minute walk from the beach and 2 minute walk from the street and supermarket. This hostel was very clean and spacious too, with a huge well equiped kitchen, I would reccommend staying here. Byron Bay is a very chilled and relaxed small town, the beautiful beach is huge and everyone in Byron Bay seems very relaxed.
The nightlife is also thriving, with a mixture of cheesy places like Cheeky Monkeys where you can play drinking games and dance on tables, to average pubs and bars. Byron Bay is filled with many travellers a majority of whom are musically talented, therefore many bars host open mic nights. We went to one in a bar in the Arts Factory -Budda Bar. We were asked to go there by our irish friend, who we originally met in Sydney but now lives and works in Byron Bay.

His name is Ciaran Sweeney and has such a pure talent of singing, playing the guitar and writing songs. I predict that Ciaran will go far, so make a note of his name people!! So along with listening to Ciaran at this open mic night, there were also so many other talented people from all over the world... Going to a open mic night in Byron Bay is a must and certainly a highlight for us. Our 5 days spent in beautiful Byron Bay were very chilled and it was our pleasure to view and listen to such amazing raw talent of all the people at the open mic night and also on the beach. If you recall Toni was also given money for her birthday by all of our friends at home, with this money she done a skydive over Byron Bay which she loved.
We would deffiently love to go back to Byron Bay and is infact one of our favorite spots in Australia, we were actually sad that we couldnt spend more time there.
