Two Weeks into our Big Adventure......

Its Monday the 11th of Jan, and I am writing this blog whilst on a boat to Phi Phi. We have been in Thailand for 14 days but we have done and seen so much that it feels longer... These 2 weeks have consisted of 7 different homes, 4 different islands, elephant riding, swimming in a waterfall, being blessed by a monk, holding a baby tiger and snake; going to the Full moon and half moon parties and meeting amazing people. All of that on top of the daily activities of sunbathing, partying and traveling from island to island. So as you can imagine, we have been non stop, and up until a few days ago it was constant partying as a group of our friends from back home were over on holiday....

Thailand is a big and beautiful place with so much to see and do, the people are lovely and friendly so as long as you smile learn to say hello (Sa Wat Dee Ka) and thank you (Korp- Kun- ka) then you will be fine. Also don't be afraid to barter, you will most certainly cut the price of the item you want by half. So far in Thailand we haven't found it that cheap, but we hear the rest of Asia is much cheaper. However Thailand is much less expensive than back home on everything apart from alcohol really; we have had some great deals on accommodation. As there are 3 of us and we split the cost it works out good too, one of our abodes in Koh Samui was just 2 pound a night each, mind you it didn't have air con or hot water and there was a family of ants living with us- but that's all part of the experience....

Below I have listed the places we have been so far with some tips...

KOH SAMUI
Thai Boxing- Great Experience, quite expensive to get in around 800-1000 baht (15-20 pound). However you do get to see around 7 fights so it is a night out.

Ark Bar- Best beach bar and beach party. Drinks are quite expensive though, so buy a bucket on the strip and walk it down to the ark bar.

The strip- Consists of many bars and clubs. Hush bar, cheap buckets. Mint bar, Mango and Sound club great venues if you love to drink and dance. All bars/clubs are free to get in.

Funny day Safari experience- This is a day trip where you get to do and see a lot, such as elephant riding, animal shows, swimming in a waterfall, being blessed by a monk and much more. Food is also provided, expect to pay around 1000- 1500 baht each for one of these trips (20-30 pound). Remember to barter.

KOH PANANG

Full moon party- This is on the beach in Haad Rin. Its 100 baht to get in (2 pound). Its a mad/crazy night and everyone is in a good mood. The buckets of alcohol are cheap, and there are different genres of music from one end of the beach to the other. At one end of the beach you will also find the famous Mushroom Mountain, if you are tempted to try one of the mushroom shakes, try to go before the Full Moon party as on the actual day the mountain gets really busy and to be frank quite dangerous.

Half Moon Party- This is in Ban Tai, its 500 baht to get in (10 pounds) so quite expensive. Drink before you go as the drinks at this party are also quite expensive too. However this party is smaller and quite compact, it is in the middle of the jungle which heightens the experience so it is a good night. There is only one area of music though.

KRABI

We literally just passed through Krabi on our way to Phi Phi, but if you go here get a long tail boat from the beach to Railey island. This beach is beautiful and there are many wild monkeys on this island too which you will hopefully see.
