So this big adventure, which is now less than 4 months away, is very daunting, but yet exciting; which is totally normal isn’t it? I mean going to countries that are not familiar, surrounded by people that speak different languages and have different cultures; And more importantly leaving friends and family behind that I love and am going to miss. All these factors and insecurities, I must confess emphasise my fears on this whole next chapter of my life. However I believe change is not necessarily a bad thing and it is certainly not something that I should be frightened of. I heard a quote once, can’t remember where I heard it from but I do know that it has stuck in my head ever since, ‘The brave may not live long, but the cautious never live at all’. As you will learn from reading my posts, I have done many things in my life, and I guess going backpacking for a year, will be my ultimate act of bravery before settling down and having a family.
I find when speaking about travelling with my friends and family, the older generation seem to openly express their concerns, where as my friends that are more my age are excited for Toni and I. So I just want to say to all our friends and family is that we love you all, don’t be worried for us. Be excited for us, follow our blog, share our experiences via my words, share what we see via the photos we upload, and enjoy. x
